It has grossed $1.2 billion worldwide on a $254.6 million production budget, surpassing the original film, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2017. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences for it’s faithfulness to the original 1991 animated film and elements from the broadway, music, songs, costumes and setting designs, but there were some criticisms for its CGI designs for the Beast and his enchanted servants and for its excessive similarity to the original film. The film stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, which was released on March 17, 2017.
